I started Outdoor Mapping Company in 2016 when I bought my first commercial-grade printer. Over the last year and a half, I have been slowly redesigning my website and have built Outdoor Mapping Company into the leading seller of Historical maps of the First and Second World War.
During this time, I have been fully employed with the Canadian Forces as Geomatics Technician with 2 Combat Engineer Regiment. It has been an interesting last couple of years balancing my full time calling with my passion. Before working as a Geomatics Technician, I spent 7 years as an Armoured soldier with the Royal Canadian Dragoons and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009.
Recently I have started the Commander’s Update Brief: a blog that talks about the mapping and planning that commanders use to help win a battle. I really enjoy blogging about this kind of history as its often forgotten. I feel its important to try and give an authentic and raw look at the battlefield; history is often interpreted in many ways and can morph beyond the truth. Looking at the battlefield from a geomatics perspective can help bring it into a more realistic light.
I hope you enjoy my website, and I am always looking for guest bloggers to bring a unique twist or flair to my website. Thanks for stopping by.
